I’m often asked what are my favorite organization items, and it’s so hard to pick just five. But these are my TOP FIVE FAVORITE ORGANIZATION ITEMS.
1 – Black Huggable Hangers
A secret trick to making a closet look more organized is to use a uniform hanger. These huggable hangers are slim, but sturdy, and come in two versions: shirt hangers and suit hangers. You can even hang pants, skirts or shorts from them with little clips. The velvet finish keeps those slinky tops in place, and I promise these save a lot of space compared to plastic or wood hangers. Many clients are amazed at how organized and spacious their closets look after we switch to these hangers.
2 – Lazy Susans
Before becoming a professional organizer, the only time I’d see a lazy Susan was at a Chinese restaurant! These save space and make packed cabinets easier to manage. Lazy Susans can be used in the pantry, kitchen cabinets, the refrigerator and the medicine cabinet. They allow you to see condiments, medications, spices or other items without having to pull each item out! And lazy Susans come in varying sizes and finishes, and some with multiple tiers.
3 – Guard Your ID Roller
If you’re worried about identity theft, you should invest in a few items: a shredder and an ID stamp or roller. If you don’t want to shred every single piece of paper with your name, address and account numbers on them, just invest in the Guard Your ID Roller. There is also a stamp version, but the roller is more user-friendly. You’ll still need to shred certain documents, but with the Guard Your ID Roller, you can protect important information and then recycle your documents. Trust me when I tell you this is a big time saver!
4 – Handled Storage Baskets
I love these handled storage baskets. They work just about everywhere: the fridge, pantry, bathroom, linen closet, laundry room, playroom, etc. The handles are very helpful, and the baskets are great for corralling pesky or odd-shaped items (like seasoning mixes, rice pouches, or toothpaste tubes). I’m a bit partial to the smaller baskets. Not only do I personally use these, I buy them as storage solutions for many of my clients.
5 – Museum Putty
I’ve been a big fan of Museum Putty ever since moving to California. I use the putty to affix my breakables to a secure surface. I do this with my Limoges box collection, and even some of my more decorative wine glasses (on display). One more use for museum putty: I use it to keep wall art from going askew. I highly recommend this little product if you have a lot of breakables in the house. It’s especially handy if you have a dog with a powerful tail, a mischievous kitty or rambunctious kids!
It was hard to just pick five items, but these are items I introduce to my clients regularly. They are affordable, useful, and worth purchasing. Would you be interested in winning these items?
